Hagen Closes Western World With National Midget Win |
|
November 22nd. Darren Hagen waited until the penultimate round of the 2014 Honda National Midget season to score his first win, and he made it a big one with the 47th annual Western World Championships at Canyon Speedway Park. The Riverside, California driver, who narrowly lost off the final corner a year ago, held on in an eerily similar circumstance on Saturday night for the $7,500 win. It was the 24th career National Midget win for Hagen, tying him for 18th all-time with Bill Engelhart. He also extended a streak of ten consecutive years with at least one USAC National win with his score aboard the Shane Hmiel-owned Great Clips – Fatheadz Eyewear #56 Triple X/Esslinger. “We switched to a new car, and this is definitely the way to break it in. I was definitely not letting this one get away again. I brought it all the way to the wall at the end and knew he’d have to pretty much drive over us to get the win. It’s great to take this new
car with Shane Hmiel and Levi Jones and Great Clips backing us to a win right away. I’ve never been one to do donuts, but I was that excited to win this one,” Hagen said.

Marks Does The Double In PA Winning For The Second Time This Weekend ... This
One At Port Royal |

started second in the 25-lap 410 sprint main and took the lead when the race
began. He lead every lap from that point on, although briefly lost the lead with
three to go. When he saw the nose of another car get by him, the Myerstown
driver got his elbows up, raced onto the backstretch and got enough of a run to
pinch Lafferty off and slip back into the lead just before the scoreboard. From

Brent Marks Turns Tables On Hodnett For Williams Grove Sprints Win |
|
July 25th. Brent Marks
turned the tables on Greg Hodnett at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night and
instead of chasing him to the checkers in the 410 sprint feature as he did a
week earlier he took the win ahead of the oval point leader for his first Grove
victory of the season. Kyle Reinhardt took the lead at the start while Marks
started in the sixth spot and drove to third on just the first lap. Reinhardt
would prove a formidable foe with the lead however as even on a restart with six
laps down Marks’ failed to net the lead. Instead Reinhardt thwarted Marks
advances in the corners however his entry into the backmarkers for the leader
proved even more challenging and that’s where Marks was able to make his move.
Once working traffic Reinhardt suffered with being forced out of his rhythym and
Marks drove low to take control with a third turn move with nine laps to go. |

could drive his car in deep into the turn on the high side, Hallett closed
quickly on race leader Kyle Mitchell and surprised him with a huge slidejob to
take back the lead on lap 13. Brock built himself a comfortable lead after the
pass, only to have it erased in slower traffic. With the second place car
closing, Hallett caught a yellow flag that gave him open space ahead and took
full advantage, stretching his lead once again before taking the checkered flag
on lap 25. |

claim his first career Lincoln Speedway 410 sprint car feature win in the Annual
Daryl Gohn/Glenn Gohn, Sr. Memorial Saturday night. It was an all XXX front row
at the beginning of the race, with Grasso starting outside of pole sitter Steve
Owings. Grasso passed Ownings on the second lap, and then rallied the top the
entire race, despite the disappearing cushion. “It didn’t seem like that bottom
was there in one and two,” said Grasso, “When I caught lapped traffic, those
guys were running pretty equal. But I kept getting higher and higher off of two,
and I wasn’t sure if I should try to maybe diamond it off a little bit or what.
You could see there’s just nothing there, said the driver of the BK Trucking
#37, “It was nerve-racking, and I was holding my breath for every lap of it. I
can’t believe this!”. Grasso’s final margin of victory was 1.94 seconds, and
his total winnings (counting Gohn family and sponsor contingency prizes) was
$4,600. |

his first World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car
Series win in five years and the first for
his car owner Fred Rahmer. “It’s huge,” said
Smith, of Broken Arrow, Okla. “At this point
in my career I needed some help and this is
a big race for us to win. I know from
driving all these years and all this
experience, these guys put me here. They’ve
got a really good race car for me and we’d
like to keep going and I’d like to get one
more.”. Rahmer, who ended his own driving

the National Open, said this was one of the

McCabe Tops All XXX Podium At Skagit |
|
April
26th. At the beginning of his third season
at Skagit Speedway, Zach McCabe has learned
not only the value of patience, but in not

need to take advantage of every opening to
get to the front, and he would do just that.
McCabe would run third for most of the

McCabe raced up to the back bumper of leader
Cory Samuelson with the white flag flying.
Zach would stick to the bottom side of the
speedway and with a narrow lane open to him,
would pull even with Cory coming out of turn
two. The drag race down the back stretch saw
neither gain an advantage, but the lower

April 18th, 2014 - Big Win for Bacon |
|
April 18th.
Brady Bacon is amongst the most versatile
and talented drivers anywhere in open wheel
racing, so it’s no surprise to any of us at
XXX that he continues to accomplish bigger
and better feats on a regular basis. This
past Friday night with the MOWA Sprints at
Tri-City Speedway in Illinois, Brady picked
up his first (of what will be many) 410
winged sprint car wins in his XXX. After
coming from 6th to 3rd in his heat race,
Bacon started 7th on the feature and quickly
ascended forward. Brady took the lead around
lap 10 and blazed away from the field,
opening up a huge advantage en route to his
historic win. To Brady, Xia Xianna and
everyone involved in Brady Bacon racing –
Congratulations! |

McCarl Conquers Osky |
|
April 16th. Chalk
up the first of many wins for Carson McCarl and
Mastell Brothers Racing with their XXX chassis. On
Wednesday night at Southern Iowa Speedway, McCarl
took on the Sprint Invaders and spent the majority
of the race swapping the lead back and forth with
Jonathan Cornell. With four laps to go, McCarl had
the point but got hung up in lapped traffic and was
relegated to second, where he would end the race.
Cornell would fail post race technical inspection,
making McCarl the winner. Congratulations Carson,
Stephen and the rest of the crew! |

First National Win for Reutzel |
|
April 12th. To be
the best, you have to challenge yourself against the
best competition. Aaron Reutzel can now list his
name amongst the best as he picked up his first
career Lucas Oil ASCS Nation Tour win on Saturday
night in his XXX chassis. Reutzel led wire to wire,
running away from the field in clean air until the
only stoppage of the race at lap 8. On the restart,
Aaron again shot out like a rocket, stretching to a
big lead before encountering lapped cars on the 16th
circuit. The Clute, TX native worked diligently
through the backmarkers while his lead gradually
dwindled. With just five to go, Sean McClelland had
closed to striking distance, but a thread the needle
move between two lappers with 3 to go sealed the
deal for Aaron. Our biggest congratulations go out
to Aaron, his future wife Shelbey and crew chief
Ryan on the victory! |

Burt Back in Victory Lane at Marysville |
|
April 12th. A
wire to wire win for Jeremy Burt put the #2b XXX
back in victory lane this past Saturday night, but
the path to victory was harder than you’d think.
Burt set quick time on the night and at the outset
of the main, had his work cut out for him with a
deep invert draw. Luck worked in his favor on lap
one, as the front row made contact, wiping out a
number of cars with them and moving Jeremy to row
one for the subsequent restart. At the drop of the
green, Burt was gone, zooming out to a substantial
lead until lapped cars reared their head. In the
midst of heavy lapped traffic, Jeremy routinely
turned away the challenges of the second and third
place cars to park it in victory lane. |

Siegel Wires Lincoln |
|
April 5th.
New Oxford’s Jim Siegel started on the pole and led
every lap picking up his tenth career Lincoln win in
the 25-lap 410 sprint car feature Saturday night.
“The track was super-fast and hard to pass on
tonight, said Siegel upon exiting his Mason-Dixon
Vault Company #59 XXX chassis in victory lane, “It
was a good night to have a little luck and draw a
good number for the heat race. I knew lapped
cars were holding me up, so I thought ‘It’s time to
sit up in the seat and go.’ The car was a lot faster
than what I was pushing it, but when the track’s
like this and there’s not much passing, you have to
just make it wide and go as fast as you need to".
This underscored a good night for XXX sprint car
chassis at Lincoln with Brian Montieth living up to
his nickname, running on the edge all night
chraging from 18th starting spot to 3rd. And

points to grid the outside pole position for
the 25 lap finale at Perth Motorplex in
Western Australia. From the outset of the A

every lap of the main event that ran
virtually uninterrupted. The post race
